A living room that opens onto the balcony

The room came with one good thing already in place: a full-height opening onto the balcony. Everything else was arranged as though that opening were a window, so the light stopped at the curtain line and the balcony went unused for most of the year.

Livingly turned the room to face it. A swing seat sits in the opening, the seating is low enough to keep the view clear, and the green panelling and brass give the room a colour after dark, when the balcony is a dark rectangle rather than a source of light.
